hobble skirt

well, now i can say that i've touched some tshirts (folding laundry), but still haven't touched scissors, needle, or thread....

with this charming number, nothing more is needed than a bold stripe, a cinch belt, and a sense of adventure!

this is the figure i've been using to do all my fashion sketches on. we put three on a page and copy a bunch. somehow, i find those nipples distracting, though, so i usually white them out before i start drawing. some day soon, i'll actually touch some tshirts...

another idea...

Here is my attempt of a toned down version of tokyo street style...only made from t-shirts, of course.

Piri - Sketch 1

My idea is for a dress with a flair skirt that is composed of graphic t-shirt panels.

Save the Children

Hmm...this was supposed to be kiddie chic haute couture, but when Ju-ju modeled it, the effect was more "Save the Children". Must do some remedial hair styling before she sports it on the runway!

Ju-ju entry

I actually have one tee shirt left from the batch I bought at the thrift store which leads me to this entry so Juju can be on the runway. Maybe I would reverse colors on the sleve ruffles...

More proof that accessories will make the outfit!

Random Ideas

well lets see since I am not uber overachiever like the New Jerseans over there *pokes North* I am researching some designs and here are some of my early picks. This means I have to go to a thrift store and get better shirts though.

Kick butt vest

(something Leatha face would approve)
maybe add a hood on it if i could manage that

ooh and ninja mitts

will come up with more later maybe I am just happy i have sort of a plan

LYNNUX TUX REDUX

Here's the details. It's mostly an excuse to use my new pinch pleat sewing foot.

fortune cookie wisdom

"simplicity and clarity should be the theme in your dress"

Isn't chopping up t-shirts so much more fun than writing essays?

Practicing another simple design...I wanted to try making an off the shoulder shirt...and then I felt I had to make a skirt to go with it. This one is more athletic-y. I wanted it to be poofy-er but I don't know how that is possible with t-shirt material.

The Walk...

I just remembered this, from that place... at that time... Good times, good times...

practicing for the runway...

Lona: the sketch

I almost forgot to include my sketch! My preparation was going out and buying a Vogue magazine. Inspiration came from the Versace ad near the beginning. But the end product bears no resemblance. Does anyone need to borrow this mag?

Lona First Try

I, too, got inspired and worked on this yesterday! Now, I think I need to accessorize!
maybe it's the holiday mood, maybe it's avoiding those last few AP assignments before school starts, but H&Y are attacking the project somethin' FIERCE~!

Project Runway!

In case you want to check out some episodes of the show for insperation, or maybe just because it's so darn amusing, you can see pretty much all of the episodes online here.

at the moment our creativity is unhampered by the lack of actual tshirts--anything is possible since we can't tell whether the designs might actually work or not!

The official rules?

Here are the rules we were discussing on the car ride back to NJ (I know my mom posted some below...)

1. I've heard it said that outfits must be 50% used t-shirt. So from this I'm coming to the conclusion that the other 50% could be any fabric or material at all.

2. Following from that...accessories and shoes and such can be anything...and I'm assuming shoes can just be whatever ones we have.

3. Will there be one or two categories? Are there enough participants for 2? We were discussing ideas and my mom seemed to be thinking a lot more "high fashion" whereas I was thinking of things I might actually wear in public.

4. Judges? Gangang and Chris? And someone else?

5. People are allowed to exchange ideas and such...as my mom pointed out, on "Project Runway," they are all working in the same room.

6. Will we be forced to do a runway walk?!?! And what are the prizes? (innes asks)

What, How, When, WHy?

tara will fill this part in...

we need to know the rules:

materials: used t shirt
question? what percentage non-t shirt is OK?

style parameters?
questions: will there be different categories of entries, such as: classic, high fashion, "rad/fierce"

models:
question: can we designate another as a model, or do we have to wear the damn thing ourselves?
